Wow.  At the beginning of the month I was all proud of myself thinking, "I've updated my site three days in a row...I'm awesome!"  Needless to say, I'm feeling the opposite after neglecting my site for the past three weeks.  (insert frowny face here)

Last Saturday the last Harry Potter book arrived...and was immediately snatched up by Kari.  I was cool with her reading it first since Kari reads incredibly fast and, at the time, I was finishing up this book by the founder of Dogfish Head Brewery.  Even if you're not a total beer snob, it's still a great read.  Anyway, Kari finished the Harry Potter book by 9am on Sunday, so that was when I got my chance to start it....and I finished it today.  Wow, great book.

It was also kind of weird, in that as soon as I finished reading the book today, I had an overwhelming desire to get back to work on my book (which is good since it's been a little over a week since I've written anything).

Not too much else going on at the moment.

Happy 4th!  This afternoon I walked down to Shakespeare & Company (I was afraid of losing my parking spot in town - plus it wasn't raining too badly) to see the Declaration of Independence read line-by-line by around 80 people.  Kari even had a line in it!  It was very neat...also to see the huge applause that certain passages got due to their being just as relevant in today's political climate as they were 231 years ago.

Tonight we drove down to Housatonic and had some sangria, appetizers, and desserts at Jacks Grill.  Yum!  Later, we took some back roads we've never been on before and just drove around for a while.  Eventually we wound up at Tanglewood and caught the last half hour of The (new) Cars show.  Then we headed up to Kripalu where we were treated to an amazing view of the fireworks from Tanglewood from their big hill that overlooks Stockbridge Bowl.

A li'l side note about this song I'm listening to:  I first saw the video for/heard this song in 2005 when Kari and I were in the Netherlands.  Over the four days we were in Amsterdam, I saw the video maybe twice, but the song totally stuck with me.  I had to have it.  When I got back to the US I tried to find their cd, but I guess bands from Denmark are hard to find in American record shops.  iTunes wasn't any help either.  It wasn't available in the US iTunes shop, but I did manage to find it by switching my home country in iTunes to something in Europe...but I couldn't buy it unless my credit card was linked to a European mailing address.  Well, after over two years of only being able to listen to it through the streaming music part of the band's website, I just noticed that their music is now on the US version of iTunes.  Now I've got a new song to listen on repeat instead of "The Bleeding Heart Show" by the New Pornographers.

I need to stop writing "I'll write about that tomorrow," because when tomorrow comes, I'm usually scratching my head and wondering what the heck I was going to write about the night before.

Oh yeah, the show the other night.  On Saturday, we went to Tanglewood with Alex and James to see Prairie Home Companion.  We hung out on the lawn, had a nice picnic on a perfect weather day, and relaxed.  Then the show started, which you can listen to here.  Great stuff.  The very funny Guy Noir segment takes place at a fictitious Red Lion Inn (renamed the Crimson Carnivore Inn).  James Taylor was there as well and played a few songs.  After the recording of the show stopped, James Taylor played a bunch more songs, as did Garrison Keillor.  After about the fifth encore, Garrison asked James about the crowd, "Why won't they go home?"

Hmmm.  I know there was a lot more I was going to write about, but I can't remember.  Oh well.

Writing has been good lately.  Two weeks ago I wrote over 40 pages in a few days, and spent most of last week touching up and editing those chapters.  I'm very happy with how it's coming along.

It's very late and I have to take Baxter, the cutest puppy in the world, out for his evening walk.  I'll write more tomorrow.
