Last Friday night we drove out to
Northampton to see Yo La Tengo at the Academy of Music. At
the time I had a whole giganto post formed in my mind where I
rambled about the concert, how good it was, blah, blah, blah.
That was half a week ago and since then I've had a lot of time to
forget that long, detailed, yet witty post. The concert was
great. There.
Last Thursday, Kari and I had
most of the day off together so we went to town hall and filled
out the marriage certificate stuff (she modestly listed her
occupation as "Awesome Girl"), and then took Baxter to run around
the grounds at
Tanglewood.
While I think that TVs nationwide
should be thrown out the nearest window, I do like to Netflix
whole seasons of TV shows every once in a while. Right now
we're really liking
this.

*Phew*. Thank goodness the
IRS gave all of us in Massachusetts an extra two days to do our
taxes because of the delightfully deluging Nor'easter we've have
to visit for the past few days. It gives me an extra two
days to blissfully forget to file. Ahhh.
Things have been busy as all heck
around here as of late with all of the wedding planning and book
writing going on. No new work on 2492,
instead I've written about a dozen pages of ideas for a sequel
book (which is actually something like three books after
2492). Kind of strange, I
know, but they are such amazing ideas I had to write them down or
else risk loosing them to the black hole of forgetfulness that is
my brain.
Apparently dried Eric drool is a
tasty treat for puppies so now I find that my entire pillow is
soaking wet with dog drool. Kari hasn't been helping matters
since she's been encouraging him to lick my pillow. While I'm not
a connoisseur of fine drool, I'd prefer to stick with my own,
thanks.
Kari and I heart Boggle. We
play it for half an hour every night. It's the first game
we've played that I can easily kick her ass in, which makes me
very happy. I know it's kind of a crappy way to be thinking,
but man, I never win at
board games, so please let me enjoy my little moment of happiness.

Every day for the past while I've
looked up into the snowy-laden sky and tried to appreciate the
remnants of the long-gone season; because one thing I hate is
being all whatevery about a season while in it only to find a few
days or weeks later that the seasons sneakily changed on me when I
wasn't paying attention. Plus, I'm a big fan of the Toad The
Wet Sprocket song, "I Will Not Take These Things For Granted", so
I really make an effort to enjoy life whenever possible.
The trouble is that winter is
refusing to die. When I (thankfully) moved back to New
England from the Deep South a few months ago, I was all kinds of
like, "I can't wait for it to snow! Hooray for winter!"
Now however the only thing I'm thinking is "When will it end?"
Every day brings another inch or two of fresh snow, while seeming
to delay the already short season of spring by months. At
this point, I feel like we're going to go straight into summer
since so much of the season has already passed on the calendar.
Tonight all that stuff about a
never-ending winter was dissolved by the arrival of
a friend
from the Carolinas, who came to visit family in the area this
week. Kari and I took her on a 10-second tour of our postage
stamp-sized apartment, to dinner at a local
fancy-smanchy restaurant, a
scenic walk-around of
our
town, and drinks at the local fun place. Yeah, it was
cold and snowy outside, but a great night was had by all.
Now, up to New Hampshire!

WTF is up with this weather?
Up to a foot of snow tonight...in mid-April? Jeez!
Spring already!

I am a crappy updater.
In news! news! news!, one of my
paintings will be featured in an exhibit this fall at the
Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit. More on that later
though.
My time lately has been largely
taken up by wedding planning and writing. Lots of writing on
the book...and it's sequel...and that book's sequel (it's
sometimes hard to stay focused).
